Inflatable Rafts for Fishing
Inflatable rafts
and dinghies are popular for drift fishing and whitewater rafting. There is an
enormous variety of rafts on the market in a variety of sizes. Smaller dinghies
inflate to fit two people and the largest models are capable of carrying up to a
dozen people. The raft you choose depends on how you plan to use it. Check the
capacity of the raft before purchasing. A decent sized one for fishing will have
a weight capacity of around a thousand pounds. This is certainly sufficient for
you, a fishing buddy and plenty of gear.
Inflatable drift fishing rafts or dinghies have several benefits. They are much
more affordable than fishing boats and can get you into the most remote
locations, where the good fish hide. The price range for these rafts varies
according to size and model, but you can get a decent on for under five hundred
dollars. You have the option of purchasing a motor mount for most models, if you
don’t want to row.

Portability is another benefit of an inflatable dinghy. You could
carry the raft to a remote lake to fish. Most models come with a carrying case.
The case will fit in any car and most are lightweight enough to be carried by
one person. Set up is quick; it inflates in about fifteen minutes. Larger drift
rafts may take up to thirty minutes to inflate.
A variety of accessories is available for inflatable fishing rafts. For a more
stable feeling when standing on the raft, you can add floor boards. If you
prefer drift fishing in a seated position, bench seats are available for some
styles. An added benefit of these seats is storage capacity inside. Carry your
fishing gear inside the compartment for comfort and convenience. Once you’ve
added a motor, seats and a sun canopy, you won’t believe you’re on a raft.
Stay away from the cheapest raft in the store. There is a reason it’s the
cheapest: the materials are inferior. Better materials cost more money to
manufacture, which increases the cost of inflatables. You want something that
will hold up, without tearing. Cheap dinghies make great toys, but aren’t for
serious whitewater rafting or drift fishing.
